Flag Football
Dear Daddy:
Don't you think it is just horrible the way those South Carolina people
keep defending their keeping the Confederate flag on top of their capitol?
How divisive they are, don't you agree?

Dear Un:
Uh, divisive, you say? I understand the flag in question has been there
since... 1962. And this has just suddenly become something to get all
exercised about? I think there is a whole lot of politics going on here.
Politics aimed at getting Republican presidential hopefuls to lose some
ground in the South.
Remember what old FDR was supposed to have said, "Nothing happens by
accident in politics." And we are not seeing spontaneous demonstrations
here, either.
Amazing what "the media" can do when it wants to. Get all kinds of guilt
and pity type emotions stirred up. While ignoring real problems that could
be dealt with in a positive way, were the media so inclined.
So, is old Daddy an insensitive and uncompassionate conservative, because he doesn't jump on every bandwagon that gets rolled by in the daily parade?
Many years ago Daddy was having a far ranging talk with a fellow who claimed to be a "conservative's conservative." He was pretty sound in his positions too, until we came to the subject of abortion, where he divulged that he was a long time supporter of Planned Parenthood, and fully agreed with its programs. Said it was the only solution for keeping the blacks under control, keeping their population in check, lest they overrun the nation.
As time went on, I found this man's attitude to be rare among the Republicans I came to know. Yet prevalent among the other party's foundational thinking. Yet the black population never seems to understand that it is being used and abused in so many ways.
State Flags? Big deal nowadays. Show me a state that will stand up for the real rights of its citizens -- born and unborn -- and maybe I can get more excited about the very idea of a state. They have largely been reduced to just being lower level tax collecting entities. The governing bodies of the lotteries. Dispensers of welfare checks.
Don't ever try to manipulate Daddy by blaming him for other peoples sins -- he has enough of his own of which to repent.
